by me(whatever)
to: zankyou no terror ost

The crow flies over
the trees and mushrooms below
in the city's rain.

a girl looks upon
the diseased corpse of a cat
melting on the street.

darkened clouds ride on
a sky uninhabited
by souls of the dead.

She pulls her hair back
eats a can of spaghetti.
it's above her head.

did you see the bird?
as it arched across the sky.
did you see the bird?

Windy Day, Saturday

Windy Day, Saturday
by me(whatever)
to: hinekureneji to ame- cover by Justin Ly + ATEL

ascending the steps to a house in the sky,
passing the rose garden and the ivy-climbed bird bath
peering up from under the whistling willow tree
watching the clouds flow by,
a place you've lived by yourself
ever since you were young.

the world spins and turns underneath you,
and you've stayed the same here,
hearing the gears click together in quiet symphony
it's a Saturday, and the Zeppelin
floats by,
addressing itself to you.

the butterfly pauses around the cluster of lilacs,
the crow jumps out of the bushes,
sipping your hot chocolate while eating the words
of the freshly delivered newspaper.
You might have a few regrets,
but we must learn how to live.

Words from Blank Pages

Words from Blank Pages
by me(whatever)
to: Oasis- Wonderwall

another night in the morning,
I look up from the bottom of the empty well,
sipping in the desert with a vacant body,
reminding me of what I never had.

another person talking in the silence,
a bird flies in the cloudless sky
deafening the ears of those who endlessly scream,
with a song it has forgotten how to sing.

another friend who is a stranger,
stepping on the newspaper in the empty lot,
large-font titles that can't say what they mean,
waiting for the rain to wash it away.

another conversation in monologue,
I discard the shoes from when I met you,
relying on the people in my mind,
to save me from myself.

Geese

Geese
by me(whatever)
to Natsume Yuujinchou- kimi ga yobu namae

what do you see in your eyes?
the geese flock around the bread crumbs,
but never close enough to touch.
A hunched back, a white whispy head,
a warm peach twilight, a shadowed pond.
The reflection of a thousand flowing clouds
linen on the water, broken by an arch across
flowers in the gateway
rustling valley grass.
I stepped through in a dream,
black buckled shoes,
and stood behind you.
there was no conversation,
no stirring of your outline,
yet you felt my presence, as I felt yours.
and once the whistle blew,
and the birds lifted all at once,
your figure shimmered in the flurry,
disappearing without a sound.

Who were you?
I could see through your eyes
yet I couldn't see you.

Ocean in Oregon

Ocean in Oregon
by me(whatever)
to: Coldplay- Hurts like Heaven

ocean in Oregon
responding to the world's spin,
responding to the moon
light grey clouds
light grey sand
reflecting each other,
an earth and sky love affair.

waves slide serene
attempting to meet me before I go
attempting to walk along the beach
with it's own two legs,
and with it's sweet, fresh, and cold breath
kiss the warm lungs
of a human, as nonexistent
as a single grain of sand.

old man and his daughter
arm in arm, strolling down the line
not knowing how far they've gone
not knowing how far they'll go
and over here,
a person standing alone
watching the white foam disappear
with the person they've loved so far away
waiting and waiting
wrapped comfortably in the water's soliloquy.

And the birds fly back and forth
together, low across the edge of the world
in rhythm with the waves
in rhythm with the gravity of the moon
in rhythm with the spinning of the Earth
and only a few of the dead
add to the reality of the canvas.

the boy picks up a drifting stick
etching a chaos of curving lines
against the ground, as though
trying to mark that he was there,
he was definitely there,
underneath the light grey sky
before the clear, white ocean
on the millions of grains of sand.

Paper Birds

Paper Birds
by me(whatever)
to: Flow- Days

In the warming season,
I came to love this town.
the shatters and tatters of your paper birds,
flew off the balcony in the gust of wind
like the remnants of a dream
how can I connect to your words?

Any cold memories that were left,
are melting like ice cream in the sun
Although truly nothing has changed since those days...
in the golden horizon seen from astride your kite,
the clouds floated and flitted uneasily
addressing it's love to the phantom blaze.

The dream is far away
enough that I might fall.
within the grasp of the eastern jet stream,
I've gone lighter than the stratosphere
to see this Earth from the moon,
because things are not always what they seem.

Living the days one by one,
I was used to living here.
the childish balloon I held to the sky
shriveled up like the apple core you threw to the ground
even when I attached ten thousand to my arms
I realized I wasn't able to fly.

At the distance between,
I was stuck before the destination.
If the milky-way was out of my reach,
I never saw anything except a city of nebulae
filling up the shuttle screen;
an anticipatory breach.

You were looking beyond,
to a place I couldn't see.
Over the summer grass twilight held agleam,
I landed the reply to those letters
twisted in the shape of birds, because
I know you are not what you seem.

Gravity

Gravity
by me(whatever)
to Longing

This morning,
I awoke in an illusion.
Taking these steps,
quietly wrapped in confusion.

It was a tiny walk
across a gap in the sky.
"I suppose I should turn back now,"
I said within a sigh.

There's a world you've never seen,
and it all belongs to me.
concrete suspended 12,000 feet,
in the air like another sea.

"define gravity, please?"
from the balloon I named Campanula,
I've set out for you,
calling you names through the nebula.

in a city without people,
the windows glint as the gulls fly by.
winding through the spiral staircase,
I still can't find a reply.

The wind rustles in the blue grass,
invisible to the voices below.
let me disappear in this translucent color,
breathing in the afternoon glow.

Please come back,
I'm begging you like a child.
Watching the nimbus drift through,
I cried as it piled.

Birdcage

Birdcage
by me(whatever)
to Fly Out

goldfish swimming in a bowl,
the hardwood desk she sits at.
Words I don't understand,
the window to the world.

Wings, beak, and talons,
chirping tomorrow's short songs
the hands who trespass,
the echoing daylight.

A slow life, a bored life,
I've always flitted the distance
from pole to pole
in the window to the world.

the staring goldfish,
the sliding closet she opens.
gestures I don't understand,
the blue of the sky.

feathers, voice, and heart,
barred 460 times per minute.
the eyes who trespass,
the echoing night.

From then to now,
I've always fought the distance
from pole to pole
in the blue of the sky.

Milk & Honey

Milk & Honey
by me(whatever)
to Fireworks

The shadows sink lower in the remnants of the day,
when the sparks light and flicker inconsistently.
I felt my daydreams spin together
in a warm glass of milk.

the dragonflies and the butterflies,
where do they go when I'm asleep?
With a smiling mouth, and a gentle tongue
you led yourself away.

the blossoms on the trees,
blooming even in the coldest of nights.
In a world such as that,
I'd like to walk underneath the sparse coverage.

Locked away in a bottle, and slowly drowning,
the reasons and emotions become tied.
Where do I go when I'm asleep?
I'm running barefoot among a thousand fireworks.

They didn't understand when I lied,
and holding mittens against my face,
I realized the birdcage was still shut.

Even when I stepped lightly against the stone steps,
heaven wouldn't open those letters I left.
the leaves scatter, and enveloping an abandoned desire,
They and I watch the autumn dusk.

Adding honey to the past words,
the clock that holds my name silently clicks.
as I gulp down the rest of the pain,
a nightingale sings from far away.

A song no one else can hear,
even when I told the truth,
they didn't understand.

The message will be delivered,
carried through the ocean until the time melts slowly.
a ship made of dreams and deceit,
will carry me on.

Until I can step on the concrete paths,
I'll be gathering all the noises from here to there.
Where do they go when I'm asleep?
the wheel breaks the butterfly.

Echoing in the space between here and there,
the tautology will smear the dragonfly wings incomprehensible.
Inside a ghost of what you will be,
disappearing quietly in a horizon of pure white.

The Village

 The Village
by me(whatever)
to spontaneous me
related to the poems: The Dollmaker and The Town Doll's Midsummer Song

The birds weep in the morning,
the sun overlies the town.
The grass is fresh with dew,
dripping slowly down.

Butterflies at their windows,
fluttering among the posies.
The smoke smothers the sky
floating in the warm summer breeze.

The fathers discard the wood,
the mothers withhold their young.
A shangri-la hidden within the trees,
where a curse speaks in devil's-tongue.

The river waters run clear,
reflecting shards of blue.
The living rather the dead,
another soul has flew.

The dance has left the grounds,
a sacrifice for the everlasting sun.
vessels in chains,
where soon there will be none.

marionettes speaking to the pass-away,
deciding which will go.
The village shimmers in fortune,
since the calamity centuries ago.
