time-traveler

time-traveler
by me(whatever)
to: Forestpireo- not losing to the rain, not losing to the wind

tomorrow, when it will be sunny,
with the clouds as fluffy as unshorn sheep.
I'll take out the checkered blanket and basket,
walk up to the hill with the poppies,
and I'll have a picnic with the air.

the day after tomorrow, which was dark,
with the clouds like islands in the sky.
I stayed indoors all day, washing the dishes,
staring outside at the wind through the trees,
and sang a song no one could hear.

yesterday, when it was raining,
with the clouds as flat as marble.
I tread out of town with a lady-bug umbrella,
splashing quietly through the barren streets,
window-shopping for the teacups you wanted.

the day before yesterday, which will be snowy,
with the clouds reflecting the ground.
I will climb a tree without leaving footprints,
replay the music box from you, who's never met me
and watch the world disappear.

by me(whatever) 4/17/15
to: People in the Box- Seijatachi

The city's overridden in gray clouds,
your wet hair sticks to your forehead-
hard to tell if it's sweat or the humidity
a bird flies an arc across the sunlight
streaming through the window
reminding you of a childhood memory
a place that can never be reached again.

In these empty days,
Searching for the place you truly belong
a piece of paper rustles,
returning your attention to your present task
umbrella in the lost and found
the sidewalk spots and darkens in the rain
and it's time for you to head home.

Windy Day, Saturday

Windy Day, Saturday
by me(whatever)
to: hinekureneji to ame- cover by Justin Ly + ATEL

ascending the steps to a house in the sky,
passing the rose garden and the ivy-climbed bird bath
peering up from under the whistling willow tree
watching the clouds flow by,
a place you've lived by yourself
ever since you were young.

the world spins and turns underneath you,
and you've stayed the same here,
hearing the gears click together in quiet symphony
it's a Saturday, and the Zeppelin
floats by,
addressing itself to you.

the butterfly pauses around the cluster of lilacs,
the crow jumps out of the bushes,
sipping your hot chocolate while eating the words
of the freshly delivered newspaper.
You might have a few regrets,
but we must learn how to live.

All My Fault

All My Fault
by me(whatever)
to: nekobolo- 弾けないギターを片手に

Classrooms,
clouds in the sky,
drowsing within those barriers.
that I can't get enough sleep,
is all my fault.

House,
clouds in the sky,
staring at a blank page.
that I can't write single word,
is all my fault.

Grass fields,
clouds in the sky,
watching the satellite rotate.
that I can't move forwards after this,
is all my fault.

Driveway,
clouds in the sky,
breathing in the winter air.
that I can't forgive that person,
is all my fault.

Bus stop,
clouds in the sky,
waiting at the edge of the world.
that I can't help but wish to disappear,
is all my fault.

Windows,
clouds in the sky,
living without a correctly marked map.
that I've given up everything important to me,
is all my fault.

Here,
rain at my feet, you said
"It's not your fault".
Say, if I was moved by your beautiful lie,
I'm sure that
is all my fault, right?

Farewell

Farewell
by me(whatever)
to: Miku- Goodbye April doppel

breath came out in clouds,
wafted up to the milky way.
And disappearing, it asked a question,
"Is anyone there?"
it said.

without seeing the shape,
shadow spilled on the snow.
crunching steps, and all of a sudden, silence,
"Is anything beyond here?"
it said.

fumbling the layers of a coat,
wind spills dust as it rushes through.
shivering from where it's been, it murmurs quietly,
"Can even you not see me?"
it said.

Ocean in Oregon

Ocean in Oregon
by me(whatever)
to: Coldplay- Hurts like Heaven

ocean in Oregon
responding to the world's spin,
responding to the moon
light grey clouds
light grey sand
reflecting each other,
an earth and sky love affair.

waves slide serene
attempting to meet me before I go
attempting to walk along the beach
with it's own two legs,
and with it's sweet, fresh, and cold breath
kiss the warm lungs
of a human, as nonexistent
as a single grain of sand.

old man and his daughter
arm in arm, strolling down the line
not knowing how far they've gone
not knowing how far they'll go
and over here,
a person standing alone
watching the white foam disappear
with the person they've loved so far away
waiting and waiting
wrapped comfortably in the water's soliloquy.

And the birds fly back and forth
together, low across the edge of the world
in rhythm with the waves
in rhythm with the gravity of the moon
in rhythm with the spinning of the Earth
and only a few of the dead
add to the reality of the canvas.

the boy picks up a drifting stick
etching a chaos of curving lines
against the ground, as though
trying to mark that he was there,
he was definitely there,
underneath the light grey sky
before the clear, white ocean
on the millions of grains of sand.

Paper Birds

Paper Birds
by me(whatever)
to: Flow- Days

In the warming season,
I came to love this town.
the shatters and tatters of your paper birds,
flew off the balcony in the gust of wind
like the remnants of a dream
how can I connect to your words?

Any cold memories that were left,
are melting like ice cream in the sun
Although truly nothing has changed since those days...
in the golden horizon seen from astride your kite,
the clouds floated and flitted uneasily
addressing it's love to the phantom blaze.

The dream is far away
enough that I might fall.
within the grasp of the eastern jet stream,
I've gone lighter than the stratosphere
to see this Earth from the moon,
because things are not always what they seem.

Living the days one by one,
I was used to living here.
the childish balloon I held to the sky
shriveled up like the apple core you threw to the ground
even when I attached ten thousand to my arms
I realized I wasn't able to fly.

At the distance between,
I was stuck before the destination.
If the milky-way was out of my reach,
I never saw anything except a city of nebulae
filling up the shuttle screen;
an anticipatory breach.

You were looking beyond,
to a place I couldn't see.
Over the summer grass twilight held agleam,
I landed the reply to those letters
twisted in the shape of birds, because
I know you are not what you seem.

Gravity

Gravity
by me(whatever)
to Longing

This morning,
I awoke in an illusion.
Taking these steps,
quietly wrapped in confusion.

It was a tiny walk
across a gap in the sky.
"I suppose I should turn back now,"
I said within a sigh.

There's a world you've never seen,
and it all belongs to me.
concrete suspended 12,000 feet,
in the air like another sea.

"define gravity, please?"
from the balloon I named Campanula,
I've set out for you,
calling you names through the nebula.

in a city without people,
the windows glint as the gulls fly by.
winding through the spiral staircase,
I still can't find a reply.

The wind rustles in the blue grass,
invisible to the voices below.
let me disappear in this translucent color,
breathing in the afternoon glow.

Please come back,
I'm begging you like a child.
Watching the nimbus drift through,
I cried as it piled.

Standing

Standing
by me(whatever)
to Of Monsters and Men- Dirty Paws

some days come short,
some come long.
without realizing where I stood at all,
I must've found where I belong.

the way is hard,
it hurts to care.
the mountains among your heart,
are wondering how you'll fare.

The oceans sing songs,
edging across the border.
To reach you is like knocking,
knocking from the corridor.

Some days I'm here,
some I've disappeared.
the birds have all gone,
returning when the storms are cleared.

If it was yesterday,
if it was today,
against the deep wood slope,
to be where your mind has strayed.

There's a whisper in the valleys,
where your voice has left a shadow.
When I wander beyond the hills,
I listen and swallow.

If it's today,
If it's tomorrow,
it calls and calls and calls,
answering for your sorrow.

the snow sings songs,
over the peaks above.
The clouds cover the world below,
where everything's dead but love.

Some days come short,
some come long.
Without realizing where I stood,
I must've found where I belong.

Lines

Lines
by me(whatever)
to miku- glow

balancing 3 centimeters wide,
holding our faint breath
on the line that stretches through the sky
forever and ever.

carried as toddlers,
we walk because we were born*
Mother, little sister,
conversations lost.

Cumulonimbus balance in the wind,
wisp flowing through our hair.
Standing 6 inches wide,
looking forward,
forever and ever.

Do you have any dreams?
I've been lonely in this empty sound.
The ripped up storybook,
we read in lamp light.

Friends and family we've lost,
we just want to live!
Camlin's attempted connection,
slowly, in this broken world.

We held on as they pushed us off,
the sunlight glinted in fear.
You held my hand,
and we both fell to earth.

* relating to the line "I walk because I was born" from the song Strobe Light

SKYFISH

SKYFISH
by me(whatever)
to this song: Song of the Ancients Fate
inspired by this song(sorta): Miku Hatsune- Sky Fish

Wanderer,
swimming in this empty ocean sky,
something like scales
glinting against the sun.
SKYFISH

a song like mourning, lamenting?
twisted in these clouds
like the foam against the crashing waves
leaving behind, forgetting?

Surely that day I was in the water,
but flipped over against the mighty mirror
I found a new life...

Undefined, sifting
floating slowly towards a lonely space
full of stars and comets
things that if,
if I return
I'll be burned.

I only wanted
a pair of wings

Dirty, dirty occasional streams,
always ending up against the current
unheard sorrow
invisible predator

Did I
ever love you?

Forget, forgetting
leaving my weight behind
left of any company.

To the freedom called loneliness.

Well, look look!
don't they look the same?
Same blue, same waves, same currents
same feeling..

Just ignore the ground.

Inside of light,
instead of that shallow darkness
Don't disappear.

Leaving everything behind,
forget, forgetting.
Just keep on flying.

I only wanted
to dream

A million wishes blinking
in the night waters
Even leaving my weight behind,
aren't they still as unreachable as ever?

But I will not return.

Even this song,
twisting in the mind winds
Lamenting, mourning
will forget.

So drying up, cracking skin
scales falling like rain
Dissolving against the anger of the sun
forget, forgetting...

I only wanted
a pair of wings

Wanderer,
Falling in this empty ocean sky,
something like scales
glinting against the sun.
Gone again...

SKYFISH

Burning Horizon

Burning Horizon
by me(whatever)
to this song: Takuro Yoshida- Ningen Nante

Something is beyond that horizon
it taunts me with the face of the setting sun
Swigging down my drink,
wiping my nose on my sleeve,
the ending light refracts in the bottle
Twisting the scene into blurry shapes.

Nothing is enough,
soon this miserable life will come to an end.
Yet, something is wrong here.
I'm suddenly feeling the urge to piss
over the bones of dead animals,
and the shedding of rattlesnakes.

Skin tanned by the heat of that blazing sphere,
Sweat perspiring on my forehead.
Holding the rope of choice in my left hand,
Squinting against the sand.

No clouds floating in the sky,
just a light blue like a sunburnt ocean.
Statues of horned demons stare to an unreachable heaven,
scurrying against the heat of the judgement of hell.

Things I never understood.
Whatever this existence was meant for
its stays buried
against that burning horizon.

And I take another swig.

The Wind of Catharsis

The Wind of Catharsis
by me(whatever)
to this song: Kobato Ost- Kaze no Catharsis

Again in this town,
I yearn to be happy.

Although I once gave up on it;
"Impossible!" I screamed.
I find myself now skipping to a rhythm,
heard by me, and only me.

I enjoy mysteries,
witches, cats, and birds.
But although I used to own the world,
It wasn't fun,
to be a tyrant in empty corners.

I'm still alone now,
but I can move on.
I can feel it across the distance,
a heartbeat accelerated;
excited to change the future.

"To Change the World",
might be a little bit too big?
But if I keep putting one foot in front of the other,
I will definitely be able
to change mine.

If things become complicated,
I simply need to remember the origin.
Because even hard and complicated things,
are made of easy and simple ones.

A homemade catharsis;
made of sugar pie and roses.
It took so many years to become
the person I am now.

In the wrappers of chance,
I've thrown away so many just by simple fear.
But today,
If I cast a little spell
here and there,
my determination will begin to grow.

Don't give up,
you lonely girl,
you lonely boy.

Behind the mask of grief,
is a sunny day,
just waiting for you.

Today, Tomorrow, the past,
In the end, what does it all matter?
The only time I really need,
is the time to appreciate why I was born.

Why was I born?
I still haven't found the answer to that.
You can tug your whole life,
and still not understand.
But I have already begun searching.

Even if the world is bound in chains,
Even if the bells begin to ring,
I would like to keep stepping towards the future,
a future that only belongs to me.

The heavy clouds in the sky,
and the headaches as cumbersome as my teachers lectures,
were all blown away by this wind;
The wind of Catharsis.

No matter how slow the advance,
if you are moving forward, its fine.
If there are no hero's around to save you,
Become one yourself!

I have my head up singing with the clouds,
my brain down drinking up the sea.
I know hard situations will come;
I expect them.

They can push me forwards,
So perhaps once I'm done walking,
I can start to run.

You can go wherever you want to go.
The soul is as free as a bird.

I will ride the wind of this Catharsis,
higher and higher into the sweet smell of sky,
and even if I fall
I will fly again.

I feel like Writing the Sky

I feel like Writing the sky
by me(whatever)
Kenji Kawai- The Sky Crawlers

I feel like writing the sky.
How do I express a feeling like this?

I came across a pathway of light and dark,
stuck my finger into the fog.
Not knowing what to expect,
not knowing where I was to go,

Did I fall through?

I feel like riding the sky.

I feel like writing the wind,
skimming the clouds on winged feet,
plunging into blue,
leaping the stars as stepping stones

I feel like riding the wind.

I want to stare at the sun as she feeds the world,
I want to hold the moon in the palm of my hand.

I want to overturn every star
and keep a treasure-full of wishes there.

I feel like writing the sky,
how do I express a feeling like this?

Because though I've worked hard,
I haven't a penny to show for it,
but the sky stares down at me.

And I wait for the day,
when the wind says my name,
and I am blown away as the feathers of a phoenix.

The sky! The sky!
I feel like riding the sky.

River of Two, but Still One

River of Two, but still One
by me(whatever)

A river runs through me,
separating myself into two.
I can remember from far back,
those simple songs of childhood.
If I could only return to them,
The water would carry both of me
afloat on its back.

A Summers day across the rope swing,
my poems are never poems.
Water coloring the sky portrait,
I pause to remember
it was my diary locked in code,
my feelings in a bucket with a tight lid,
leaking out like blood across blue seas

I dream with a headache,
all when the sun is shining.
Revealing his horribly happy face,
I wake up with a nostalgic feeling.
Trying to remember it's name; my name
Letters scattering like clouds
changing songs to alternate an endless me
The river splitting into many streams,
running over a slowly drowning body.

I think I found it! I think I found it!
Reaching out far to a bank or any kind of sand
slipping through my fingers
That day, when did you lose your own voice?
That name is something you may not say.

It's not an ending yet.
If this was a story, it would be happy
or sad with a lesson,
but all I can see with these separated eyes,
is the other person standing there,
there,
on the other bank.

Our City

Our City
by me(whatever)
to this song: A Town in Blue by Asian Kung-fu Generation

We're walking down this dirty street,
the world is changing,
everything from the people to the trashcans,
look and criticize each other.
I'm searching for something
else within myself.
Can humans have the power to see everything?

Watching the labyrinth of clouds above me,
dodging every empty space,
I don't want you to tell me a mistake;
if there is one, show me how to fix it.
Life has never been that simple.
I can't wait here forever,
my feet are itching to run.

You listen with your ears,
but you don't ever hear me, do you?
The truth is,
we never understood each other.
But I guess we can still stick together,
as long as we're here.
I'm searching for something,
something besides white and black.

"Can you change the definition of a mistake?"
the plastic tumbleweed tugging
My mind is always wandering
and no one understands.
Everything disappears, and I'm left
with a ripped off button.
it reminds me of my heart.

The window of my bedroom is still cold to touch,
I can't get through it, though I can see
Not even able to remember our names,
I chased those clouds that flew away.

Within darkness and illumination,
we're found.
Everyone walking around us,
are only illusions to our world.
But its okay, I'm sure eventually,
We'll find our colors
if we stick together.

We tramped on our own wishes,
I can't see anymore
the sun fell on us,
and burned up, we turned around
That dirty street melted
to a ball of smelly concrete,
and we were left,
with our city smiling at us.

Clouds

The truth is, I don't think that true happiness exists while we are alive.
but I think that if we humans are able to not only live with our pain, our sadness,
that if we can find a way to get past the boundary,
to fly past our gray skies,
Then we will be able to find something out there

and that something will definitely be valuable.

And I want my colors to always be there
so that even when the sky is crying tears,
I want to look up
and see that even gray is beautiful.

I want to be sure that life is not meaningless,
that my something is not only layers of blue,
But I'm sure that even if that is what it is,
then it will come out lighter on the opposite side,
and I will eventually be able to see something,
Perhaps,
a clear blue sky?

If I could Become the Rain

If I could Become the Rain
by me(whatever)

I love the rain.
When it falls,
I listen to the melody.
The clouds stop by,
and shed their grace on every surface
the sidewalk, the newspaper stand, the spinning umbrella's,
the leaves of acceptance, and dripping down, gently,
on your face.

If I could become the rain,
perhaps I could meet you again
caressing your cheek as you look up with those
beautiful eyes
Would you listen to my song?
My voice is distanced,
but can it reach your ears?
Please......

In diagonal lines,
rushing down like running silver
I know you love vibrant color,
but will you enjoy my gray?
This is my own selfish wish, but
Please don't just wait for the sun

I don't mind
if you avoid my puddles,
I don't mind.
If I fade away with this brief time,
If you avoid my cold touch,
If the umbrella's stop spinning,
I only want
to cover the world
In my affection for you.

So,
it's okay
if you only want me to pass away,
But, if you want,
I am there for you to sing and dance.
I will dance with you,
I will sing for you
With the streaks of light peeping through,
your figure illuminates with the sky
My only wish,
My only hope,
If my voice will reach you;
I love you.

Night Clouds

*This is one of my most beloved poems, not because it's particularly good, but because it is the first one I think of when I think of think of my first poem. It's not my first poem literally, but it feels that way to me. I started poetry at a truly hard part in my life.

Night Clouds
7/14/09
By younger me

The worlds sadness turns into rain
And tears start falling from vast skies,
Oceans and seas made up of pain
Not just the sky is to cry

Singing to the moon,
I make a wish,
I hope Dawn will come soon
And overfill this world in bliss

Everyone is reaching towards light,
with their fingers outstretched
But some lose their sight
and in their own tears are drenched.

Happiness is meant to spread,
and to heal injuries,
is what many have said
yet its true meaning to seize.
